Synopsis for "The World's Heavy Weight Champ"

Jimmy is shocked to find that during the day he suddenly suffer bouts of becoming super-heavy. Jimmy soon realizes that his sudden increase in weight seems to only happen when Superman is around. After using this new found power to boost the Daily Planets circulation with a publicity stunt and helping Superman catch some crooks, Jimmy soon becomes a potential victim to his new powers.

Jimmy is captured by another group of crooks and is shackled to the floor of a building with a basement loaded of dynamite. The crooks hope is that when Superman comes to save Jimmy, his increased mass would cause him to break through the floor and set off all the dynamite killing the cub reporter. However, when Jimmy calls Superman for help he realizes the catalyst that is causing his super-mass: The Signal Watch. Turning it off, he resumes his normal weight.

Superman examines the watch and realizes that the other day when he used his x-ray vision on the device he caused the malfunction and repairs it. When Jimmy weighs himself after and is shocked to find he's weighing in at 20 lbs. until Superman points out that the scale he's using is broken.

Synopsis for "Jimmy Olsen, Foreign Correspondent"

Continued from last issue... Jimmy has been given the task of being a foreign correspondent for the Daily Planet. In the kingdom of Hoxana with Clark Kent to determine if it's King Orto is really a dictator in disguise. Disguising himself as a poor boy, Jimmy begs the king for money and at first glance King Orto appears charitable, however Jimmy soon determines the coins he was given to be counterfeit. When Clark tries to expose Orto he is arrested as an American spy and tossed on death row, Jimmy's calls for Superman's help go unanswered.

Jimmy decides to try to free Clark and expose Orto himself and tries his best to try and expose Orto's two-faced rule. However, all his attempts to discredit Orto only boost his popularity. When Jimmy inadvertently prevents an attempt on Orto's life, Orto offer Jimmy anything he wants. Jimmy asks Orto to let him get the story of the American spy that was captured. Orto does so, but tells Jimmy that anyone who willingly wants to be put on death row gets an instant death sentence.

When Clark and Jimmy are put before the firing squad, Clark secretly uses his super-powers to divert the bullets of Orto's firing squad. Furious that his men cannot execute Kent, they decide to try Jimmy instead, giving Clark a moment to change into Superman and disarm Orto's firing squad and expose his true rule and lock him up in a jail. Superman then quickly departs to change back into Clark Kent and making look like when the action started Clark hid in a guard room for safety.

Synopsis for "The Birdboy of Metropolis"

When Clark Kent is forced to smash an approaching meteor without changing into Superman, he is spotted in the sky by Jimmy who is in the Flying Newsroom. Clark quickly covers for this when Jimmy visits him at the Daily Planet and Clark is examining an pair of ancient Egyptian wings that allow it's wearer to really fly, this convinces Jimmy that Clark was flying by artificial means.

When reports of an escaped bird hit the air-waves, Jimmy wants to use the wings to capture the bird. With no choice but to let Jimmy do this to protect his secret identity, Clark straps the wings onto Jimmy and secretly uses his super-breath to keep the boy aloft. This prompts Jimmy to continue to use the wings for publicity stunts and getting scoops for the Daily Planet.

Caught in a tight bind because he can't keep on using his super-powers to make Jimmy think he's flying, Superman tries to steer Jimmy to near disaster to convince him to abandon the wings. After a number of failed attempts, Superman then orchestrates the wings to "malfunction" causing Jimmy to fall out of them and need to be rescued by Superman. The Man of Steel then uses his super-breath to blow the wings away, making Jimmy think they flew away on their own.
