History

Baal may or may not be the god worshipped by the Canaanites. This demon was brought to Earth by the warlock Aleister Creel using a series of ritualistic kilings that were investigated by the Batman. Etrigan the Demon helped Batman defeat and seemingly destroy him, but Ahriman contacted him in trying to seduce Superman into evil. One of their confederates, Izanami, the Japanese death-goddess, even turned Lois lane into a god to sway Superman, but the Man of Steel could not be tainted and he defeated them both, turning over Baal, Ahriman, Izanagi and their co-horts back to their perspective pantheons.
