Synopsis for Green Lantern: "The Taxi War"
The city's cab drivers get together to form a union and get better wages, but are unpleasantly surprised by mobster Pug Deagan crashing their meeting and offering to help them organize, as he has with cabbies in other town. Although as the elected leader points out, these other cabbies got higher wages but higher dues that more than undid their new earnings. With his offer rebuffed, Pug calls up his boys to terrorize the taxi union members until people are afraid to ride in them anymore, including Doiby's, who sullenly tells Alan Scott and Irene Miller he hasn't had a single passenger all day. Irene bravely offers to be a passenger in Doiby's cab, and Alan switches to Green Lantern and follows along in case of trouble. Sure enough, some of Pug Deagan's boys show up and try to intimidate Doiby. Green Lantern intervenes, and after literally shooing Irene and Doiby away, uses his ring to hypnotize one of the thugs into telling him where the hideout is.
After a radio address where the taxi union members, and the heads of the taxi companies, refuse to cooperate with Pug Deagan's plans, he has his boys target "Hefty" Martin, the head of the union. Doiby finds him outside the meeting in bad shape, and the cabbies almost knuckle under in fair of their families' safety, until someone comes forward to lead the fight against Deagan: Green Lantern himself. As one the taxi union drives to the location of the hideout Green Lantern beguiled out of the gang member from last time, but Green Lantern flies ahead and softens up Deagan's gang before the army of taxi drivers arrives in force and beat up the gangsters. Deagan tries to flee to the owner of another cab company, who Green Lantern figures out was actually part of his scheme because of the way he'd given into Deagan's coercion easily the first time Deagan's gang set up an exploitative taxi union. Hefty Martin recovers and the taxi union successfully gets its members higher pay.

Synopsis for Sargon the Sorcerer: "Sargon Attacks Gambling"
After a performance, Sargon sees a newspaper detailing how a bank clerk embezzled to cover his gambling debts but ended up committing suicide to escape his shame. As usual, the heroic wizard decides to set out to end this scourge on society before it can claim more lives. He pays a visit to the gambling den in question, owned by Nick Witry. Sargon finds out they are indeed rigging the games, which he disrupts with his magic powers to scare the owner a bit.
Sneaking back in invisibly, Sargon sees the son of the DA he befriended last issue being coerced into doing a job to work off his gambling debts. Namely, getting evidence of the gambling racket's unsavory deeds from his father's safe, or they'll reveal the son's gambling problem, which would torpedo the DA's career. Sargon stops Witry's men from collecting the evidence by tying them up in their own coats, then magically slips past the guards at the casino and exposes that the games are rigged to a crowd of enraged patrons who join him in destroying it.

- In the cover, Doiby Dickles "plays xylophone" wearing his wrench as drumstick against the heads of three crooks. Obviously it was influenced by a similar scene in the previous issue.
